Mark was responsible for the design and managing the implementation, as well as performing much of the configuration. This project was particularly challenging as it involved developing two applications in parallel that would need to be integrated in the final solution, requiring the two streams to be aligned in their solutions.
Detailed Description

Following the success of Mark's work on the Com Hem and Uppsala/Knivsta Kommun projects, he returned to work for Deloitte on a project for the Swedish Police. Mark was employed to lead a team of developers on one of two streams, and to offer exeprt Siebel advice and assistance to whole project.

The Swedish Police had previously commisioned another company to develop solutions for them, but these had proved very costly, took too long to develop and in the end did not meet their requirements. Consequently they were very cautious in their approach with Deloitte and this project's goal was to develop solutions for just 2 out of a total of 22 processes as a pilot to prove that Siebel was the right software to use throughout, and that Deloitte were the right integrators to deliver the solutions. At the end of the pilot, the client were satisfied with the imlementation, had already taken the decision to continue with Siebel as the software, and were in discussions with Deloitte to continue with them as the integrators.

Mark was responsible for leading the development of a solution for one of the two processes covered by this pilot and worked with other Siebel consultants and the Deloitte business analysts to design and build the solution. Although development of the two processes happened independently, care was take to ensure compatability between the two as they would ultimately be merged into one solution for the final delivery. The reason for this approach was due to the timing of delivery, where one process was due to be delivered before the other, and the risk of the continued development of the second process having an impact on the first whilst it was being tested and deployed would be too great. Therefore developing independently and merging the repositories at a a later date was deemed the most suitable approach.

Both solutions, one for managing the tracing of people required for court cases and the other for managing the licencing of firearms, were based around the Case Management module, with the firearms solutions also making significant use of Assets. Assignment manager was also utilised to ensure the strict legal requirements for visibility of data between the different police territories were met.

Mark also helped in assisting and mentoring the junior Deloitte developers, as well as assisting the other Siebel consultants with technical issues.

Mark's Import/Export spreadsheet (see the Import/Export page for details) had long been used by Deloitte as the primary tool for deploying reference data in all their Siebel solutions, and this continued for this project.
